Official launch of the EU Code of Conduct on Responsible Food Business and Marketing Practices

It is one of the first achievements of the “Farm to Fork” Strategy, that had been launched by the European Commission in May 2020.

The EU Code of Conduct on Responsible Food Business and Marketing Practices contains a set of 7 aspirational objectives promoting a healthy, safe and sustainable food system, environmentally friendly and socially engaged. The European Commission calls all food chain stakeholders to sign this Code by taking voluntary commitments accompanied with key performance indicators. Thus, the European Commission will be able to monitor and measure progress relative to each objective.

On the date of its official launch, on July 5th 2021, 65 stakeholders have already signed the Code (26 food manufacturers, 14 food retailers, 1 from the food service sector and 24 associations). The call is still opened for potential signatories that would like to voluntarily commit.
